English / PDF / MB

Issue 198 of Woodcarving magazine is filled with a host of great articles for you. Our Guest Editor, John Samworth, welcomes you to the issue; carves a beach scene inspired by the Cornish coast; and, with Dr Helen Wilson, imagines a conversation with carver Violet Pinwill (1874-1957). In our Projects section, Cedric Boyns carves a chameleon; Dave Western makes a folding spoon; Steve Bisco recreates the Rococo style of Luke Lightfoot; Peter Benson carves a netsuke-size elephant; Colin Burlton uses a power carver to make a goldcrest; Zoë Gertner carves a pear from boxwood; and Kevin Alviti makes a breadboard. In Techniques, Graham Thompson explores the use of acrylic paints in woodcarving; and Nic Westermann teaches a reader to sharpen her Mora and Wood Tools hook knives. In Features, we enjoy some highlights from the International Wood Carvers Congress 56th Show; and we admire the misericords in Norwich Cathedral. We also have updates from the carving community and a peek at our next issue. All this and more in Woodcarving magazine 198!
